Pre-Trek Briefing (Moshi)
Arrive in Moshi at least one day before the trek. Equipment check, crew introductions, and full route briefing at your hotel.
1Day
Hotel → Mti Mkubwa Camp
Drive to Londorossi Gate and hike through dense montane forest to Mti Mkubwa camp. Wildlife — including buffalo, elephant and colobus monkeys — is common in these Lemosho Glades.

2Day
Mti Mkubwa → Shira 1 Camp
The trail steepens through giant heather into open moorland. You cross Shira Ridge and drop gently down to Shira 1 Camp by a stream, your first night on the plateau.

3Day
Shira 1 → Shira 2 Camp
A gentle hike across the open Shira Plateau. A variety of short side hikes are available, making this an excellent acclimatisation day before the route steepens tomorrow.

Shira 2 → Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
Climb east to the Lava Tower (4,650m) for the crucial walk-high-sleep-low acclimatisation benefit, then descend to Barranco Camp.

Barranco → Karanga Camp
Scale the famous Barranco Wall scramble before crossing the scenic Karanga Valley to camp.

Karanga → Barafu Camp
Final high camp on a ridge overlooking the summit cone. South Circuit panoramas are spectacular. Early dinner, pack summit gear, rest before midnight.

Barafu → Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp
Midnight summit push via Stella Point to Uhuru Peak — Africa's highest point. Descend to Mweka Camp.

Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate → Hotel
Forest descent to Mweka Gate for summit certificates, then vehicle transfer back to Moshi.
