Kisima Ngeda Camp — lakeshore forest-camp in Hadza country

Book via Trail Safari Explorers

Kisima Ngeda Camp is nestled in a fever-tree forest beside the seasonal soda lake known as Lake Eyasi, on the edge of the rim area above the Ngorongoro Crater conservation area. The camp’s eight palm-thatched, raised tented chalets look out across the wide, flat basin of the lake and the rising escarpment beyond (the Alipi escarpment), giving it a quiet, contemplative feel rather than a high-energy game-drive lodge. The architecture is intimate and low-impact: wooden decks, palm roofs, thatched structures and a communal lounge/dining area that uses local materials and design cues. Water is provided via a natural spring and showers are heated via palm-frond boilers in one area of the camp. This camp is especially suited for travellers who want to mix light-activity wilderness experiences (walking, canoeing lakeshore, cultural visits) with comfort, rather than full-on big-5 game drives. It works well for couples, families seeking a “wilderness pause” on a northern-circuit safari, or guests interested in indigenous-culture contact (with the Hadza or Datoga peoples) and relaxed lakeside evenings.
