Mti Mkubwa Camp
Drive to Londorossi Gate and hike through lush montane forest to Mti Mkubwa camp — the same start as Lemosho.
Elevation: 1,830m – 2,650m | Distance: 6 km | Time: 2–3 hrs
Shira 1 Camp
Climb through giant heather onto the Shira Plateau, arriving at Shira 1 camp beside a moorland stream.
Elevation: 2,650m – 3,500m | Distance: 8 km | Time: 4–5 hrs
Shira 2 Camp
Gentle hike across the plateau. Optional side hikes help with altitude adaptation.
Elevation: 3,500m – 3,850m | Distance: 8 km | Time: 4–5 hrs
Moir Camp
Head east through the Garden of the Senecios and past the Shark's Tooth rock formation (4,600m), then turn north onto the Northern Circuit, descending to Moir Camp — a classic walk-high-sleep-low day.
Elevation: 3,850m – 4,200m | Distance: 14 km | Time: 5–7 hrs
Buffalo Camp
Moderately steep climb out of Moir Valley with the option to summit Little Lent Hill (4,375m). The route skirts the quiet northern slopes of Kibo.
Elevation: 4,200m – 4,020m | Distance: 12 km | Time: 5–6 hrs
Rongai Third Cave
Traverse east around the northern slopes to Third Cave on the Rongai Route. Shorter day — you should feel well acclimatised by now.
Elevation: 4,020m – 3,800m | Distance: 8 km | Time: 5–7 hrs
School Hut
Steady incline over the broad Saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi to School Hut. Early dinner and bed — summit wake-up before midnight. Prepare all gear tonight.

Uhuru Peak → Millennium Camp
Steep summit push from the east side of Kibo to Gilman's Point on the crater rim, then southwest along the rim to Uhuru Peak. Descend via Stella Point and Barafu to Millennium Camp.
Elevation: 4,800m – 5,895m – 3,950m | Distance: 17 km | Time: 14–16 hrs
Mweka Gate
Final descent through forest to Mweka Gate for summit certificates, then vehicle transfer to Moshi.
Elevation: 3,950m – 1,680m | Distance: 10 km | Time: 3–4 hrs
