Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti offers excellent leopard viewing, particularly in the Seronera area where rocky outcrops and riverine forests provide ideal leopard habitat. The park's large territory supports a healthy leopard population, though they remain elusive.
Early morning and late afternoon drives provide the best chances as leopards are more active during cooler hours. Look for them resting in trees or rocky outcrops.
Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara is renowned for its tree-climbing leopards, a rare behavior seen in only a few locations. While the park is small, its diverse habitat supports several leopards that are frequently seen resting in acacia trees.
The forested areas near the lake provide excellent leopard habitat. Patient scanning of tree canopies often reveals these elusive cats.
Ruaha National Park
Ruaha has one of Tanzania's highest leopard densities due to abundant prey and limited competition. The park's rugged terrain and baobab-studded landscapes provide perfect leopard habitat. Ruaha offers excellent chances for leopard sightings with fewer crowds than northern parks.
