A Morning That Stays With You

We partner with Hope and Soul Tanzania to offer guests a genuine window into life in Arusha — a daycare visit, a home visit, or a morning in a local school.

About Hope and Soul Tanzania

Hope and Soul Tanzania has been working in Arusha since 2018, supporting street-connected children and vulnerable families through education, a free daycare for children aged 1–5, and a family sponsorship programme. Their starting point is simple: stable families, access to education, and a bit of early support can change the trajectory of a child's life.

For TSE guests passing through Arusha — whether at the start of a safari, at the end, or on a standalone city stay — Hope and Soul offer a structured, respectful way to spend a few hours that goes well beyond sightseeing. You are not parachuting in. You are welcomed, at a pace that works.

We handle the connection. You show up.

Visit Options

A Morning at the Daycare

Half day
Monday–Friday, 8am–1pm

Spend a few hours at Hope and Soul's daycare alongside the team and the children. You might join a song session, help with arts and crafts, sit at mealtimes, or simply be present with children who don't get much of that. No preparation needed — just show up and follow the team's lead.

Community Home Visits

2–3 hours
Daily, morning (9am) or afternoon (1pm)

A small-group walk through the local neighbourhood with a Hope and Soul community leader and a translator. The group delivers food support to families and spends time in homes. Groups are kept to a maximum of four — this is not a tour. It is a visit, and the difference matters.

Teaching Support

Full day
Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm

Minimum stay: 3 days

For guests staying three or more days, this is the deeper option. You work alongside the daycare teaching team in structured sessions — literacy, numeracy, creative play, music, movement. By the second or third day, the children know your name. That is when it becomes something else entirely.

Primary School Visit

3 hours
Monday–Friday, 1pm–4pm

A guided visit to a local government primary school — touring classrooms, observing lessons, spending time with students through games and informal interaction. It gives real insight into the education system here: what is working well, and what is stretched. Students enjoy it. Guests invariably do too.

Practical Information

What to Know Before You Go

All visits are arranged through Trail Safari Explorers — you don't need to contact Hope and Soul directly. We'll sort the timing, confirm availability, and make sure you know what to expect before you arrive.

For guests staying three or more days, Hope and Soul can arrange simple homestay accommodation near the projects — clean rooms, meals, and a base that puts you close to the work. Let us know if that's something you'd like to explore.

Lloyd Lovell, who visited from the UK: "Tanzania and its people are beautiful and special. I promise I will be back."
