Lions
Best Locations: Serengeti (especially Seronera and northern regions), Ngorongoro Crater. Tanzania hosts over 3,000 lions in the Serengeti alone.
Viewing Tips: Early morning and late afternoon drives offer the best lion activity. Look for prides resting during the heat of the day and hunting at dawn/dusk.

Leopards
Best Locations: Serengeti (Seronera), Lake Manyara (famous for tree-climbing leopards), Ruaha National Park.
Viewing Tips: Leopards are Tanzania's most elusive big cats. Look for them in trees, rocky outcrops, and dense vegetation. Your guide's expertise is invaluable.

Cheetahs
Best Locations: Serengeti's open plains, particularly the southern Serengeti and Ndutu region. The open terrain is perfect for their high-speed hunting style.
Viewing Tips: Cheetahs are diurnal (active during day), making them easier to see than nocturnal predators. Look for them scanning for prey from termite mounds or high points.

Spotted Hyenas
Best Locations: Ngorongoro Crater (highest density in Africa), Serengeti (throughout the park, especially near kills).
Viewing Tips: Hyenas are highly social and often seen in clans. They're skilled hunters (not just scavengers) and can be seen hunting during calving season.

African Wild Dogs
Best Locations: Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park), Ruaha National Park. These are Tanzania's most reliable locations for wild dog sightings.
Viewing Tips: Wild dogs are endangered and elusive. Sightings are rare and special. They cover large territories, so patience and expert guides are essential.
